One of my second year projects focused entirely on the packaging of products, which was a change of pace from my other work.
I decided to take a more sustainable approach with this project and landed on the theme of takeaway and fast food.
This meant straying from the usual plastic containers and trying to find another alternative material. I landed on Foodboard, which is a sustainable card with a bioplastic lining but is still 100% recyclable.
To keep my product intuitive I decided on a unique shape and opening function. I refrained from using any glues as, although some might be sustainable, I thought that they might take away from the eco-friendly image I was trying to present with this packaging.
The shape of my product meant that once opened it could be used as a plate to eat from, very useful when being used for fast food and food that is usually eaten on the go.

Held together with string, it can be easily opened with a single pull and tied together again with a knot. Also, using card meant that it could be folded flat which is great for storage and recycling.
Using card has more benefits such as the ability to be printed on. This is much better than plastic see-through containers as you can easily see the brand and what is inside, an added bonus of advertising for companies.
